Enhancing Bungalow Insulation with Baumit Silicone Render: A Complete Transformation

At WPS Plastering Contractors, we specialize in transforming homes with advanced rendering solutions. Our recent project involved revitalizing a bungalow with the Baumit StarTherm System and silicone render. The result? A property that’s warmer, more energy-efficient, and visually stunning.

In this case study, we’ll walk you through the challenges we faced, the innovative solutions we applied, and the incredible transformation that followed.

The Challenge: Poor Insulation and Dated Exterior

When the homeowners approached us, their bungalow was struggling with outdated insulation that led to:

• High heating bills due to significant heat loss.
• Uncomfortable indoor temperatures, particularly in winter.
• A tired and weathered exterior, detracting from the home’s overall appeal and exposing it to potential structural issues.

The homeowners needed a solution that would modernize their home, improve its energy efficiency, and withstand the test of time—both in performance and aesthetics.

The Solution: Baumit StarTherm System with Silicone Render

We opted for the Baumit StarTherm System, a leading external wall insulation solution, paired with Baumit’s premium silicone render. This combination offered:

• Superior thermal efficiency to reduce heat loss.
• Exceptional durability, capable of withstanding harsh weather.
• A sleek, modern finish to transform the property’s curb appeal.

To enhance moisture resistance, we extended the rendering below the damp-proof course. This additional step ensured long-term protection against dampness, preserving the home’s structural integrity. Baumit’s silicone render added a breathable, hydrophobic layer, preventing water ingress while maintaining its pristine appearance for years.

The Outcome: A Warm and Modern Home

The transformation was both practical and visually stunning. Key outcomes included:

• Significant energy savings: The improved insulation reduced heat loss, resulting in consistent indoor temperatures and lower energy bills.
• Aesthetic revitalization: The silicone render delivered a flawless finish that refreshed the home’s exterior, enhancing its curb appeal.
• Weather resilience: The damp-proof rendering ensures the bungalow is well-equipped to handle moisture and harsh weather conditions.

The homeowners were thrilled with the results, enjoying a home that’s not only more comfortable but also more cost-effective to maintain.
