Transforming a 1970s Home: A Renovation Journey

Sue and David were looking to make their home more energy efficient and to help reduce the spiralling energy bills.  They had a 1970s home in the heart of Rutland, Leicestershire, which has had a number of alterations and extensions completed in the past which has resulted in a mix-match of bricks making it look like a patchwork quilt.

Sue and David wanted to make some significant changes to the house to make it work for them and their family which included a new rear extension.  They wanted to bring the house to a single finish so that it looked like the extensions had been there forever as well as look at improving the efficiency of their home and reduce their energy bills.

They came to us back in February 2022 which is early in their renovation project asking us to look at applying external render to their home.  Andy went to see Sue and David and we discussed all the different types of renders available.  Our clients chose to have a silicone render system.

After 2 years of delays on the build part, we were glad to start working on this project using EWI Pro Silicone Render System finishing this in an ivory colour.

The transformation has been amazing from a patchwork quilt of extensions to a coherent looking home.
