Project - Sto Silicone Render on Timber Framed Extension in Lincolnshire
Wanting to render a timber framed extension for your project? This bed and breakfast in the heart of the Lincolnshire countryside had just this completed on their new timber framed extension as part of the private quarters of the bed and breakfast. In addition they also wanted an existing wall to be re-rendered which formed part of the original 1800 building.
The original building had previously had sand and cement render and this has started to fail. The owners had this removed and it showed that the original bricks beneath had been left in a poor state. Therefore we needed a render system that could not only level the undulating brick work but also provide a breathable system. The timber framed extension needed a breathable system that would give the same finish as the original building.
For the timber frame we applied Sto Ventec cement board to vertical battens and then applied a lightweight silicone render over the top. This provided a clean and contrasting finish to the rest of the building.
The original building we applied a level coat to ensure that we had a flat finish to the wall. Once applied and dried we applied the same lightweight silicone render to this wall to tie this into the new extension and to provide a clean and bright finish.
In both cases we used Sto's Rend Flex render system finishing the system by applying a silicone top coat.
